Make a Meme

The meme preset reproduces the format the internet standardized on: an Impact-style typeface, forced ALL CAPS, white fill, black outline, one line pinned to the top edge and one to the bottom. That combination is not arbitrary - the heavy stroke contrast means the text stays readable over literally any background, light or dark, busy or plain, and the fixed top/bottom slots keep the subject of the image unobstructed in the middle.

There is a genuinely funny bit of history in that lettering. Impact, the meme typeface, was designed by Geoffrey Lee in 1965 for newspaper headlines - it predates the web by three decades. Its enormous x-height and thick strokes were meant to survive cheap newsprint, which is precisely why it also survives aggressive platform compression and six-inch phone screens today.

A word on quality, because memes get recompressed brutally as they travel: the caption is composed as vector shapes and only baked into pixels when the file is written, so your export starts as sharp as it can possibly be. Export at the image's native size rather than shrinking, and prefer PNG when the platform allows it - each subsequent reshare will degrade the file, so begin from the cleanest source you can.

Everything the preset sets is still editable. Break convention when the joke calls for it - lowercase for deadpan delivery, a different color for a specific reference, or a single caption instead of the top/bottom pair. The preset is the fast path, not a cage.
